In a bold move, Niger Delta youths on Wednesday besieged the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja, blocking entrances and demanding the sack of GCEO Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari over alleged corruption and mismanagement.
Protest Rocks NNPCL Towers in Abuja
A coalition of Niger Delta youth leaders staged a massive protest on Wednesday at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) headquarters in Abuja, demanding the resignation of the Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, over alleged corruption and mismanagement.
Protesters Block Entrances and Disrupt Traffic
Arriving as early as 6 am, the protesters blocked both the entrance and exit gates of the NNPCL Towers, leaving staff and visitors stranded. With banners in hand, they also disrupted vehicular movement along Herbert Macaulay Way in the Central Business District, drawing significant attention to their cause.

Call for Niger Delta Indigene as NNPCL Boss
Among the banners displayed, one boldly called for the resignation of Ojulari, accusing him of gross corruption and poor leadership. The group also insisted that a qualified indigene of the Niger Delta region should be appointed as the next Group Chief Executive Officer of the company, given the region’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s oil wealth.
Protest Gains Attention in Abuja
The demonstration attracted the attention of passersby, motorists, and security operatives, who were deployed to ensure order. While the protest remained largely peaceful, the youths vowed to continue pressing their demands until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu takes decisive action on the leadership of NNPCL.
